The General Directorate of Emergencies has declared a pre-alert for winds and coastal phenomena for this Wednesday in Lanzarote. This decision is made based on the AEMET forecast and/or other available sources, and in application of the Specific Emergency Plan of the Canary Islands for Risks of Adverse Meteorological Phenomena PEFMA.
Wind gusts will be able to reach up to 80 kilometers per hour, which will mainly affect the north of the island, including La Graciosa, as well as inland areas of Lanzarote.
Regarding the sea, there will be combined sea from the northwest, with swell that may reach and exceed 4 to 5 meters on coastlines open to the north and west, with a high wave period, of up to 18 seconds at the beginning of the episode, and which will subsequently decrease, as the wind sea gains weight.
According to the General Directorate of Emergencies, the pre-alerts will begin from 16:00 hours this Wednesday and will extend until Thursday, February 26.
