During the course of the last Culture Commission of the Congress of Deputies, the general director of the National Institute of Performing Arts and Music (INAEM), Félix Palomero, confirmed to the socialist deputy of Lanzarote, Miguel González, that his department will favor the trips and tours through peninsular territory of the Canary Islands theater, dance, and musical groups.
The head of INAEM assured that in the evaluation commissions of the Ministry of Culture, which grant aid and subsidies to theater, dance, and music companies in the Canary Islands, criteria of distance, insularity, and transportation difficulties will prevail. And with the aim of facilitating the tours and performances of Canary Islands artists who travel outside of our autonomous community, the Institute will offer its support.
In other matters, the socialist deputy wanted to know what are the perspectives of the Ministry of Culture regarding the Spanish presidency of the European Union, during the first six months of 2010. The general director of INAEM explained that he intends to organize a meeting at the highest level, of professional and institutional representatives of the performing arts and music from all over Europe.
