"The path of dialogue has been exhausted." This is how emphatic the Minister of Industry of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Lourdes Bernal, was after new power cuts have occurred in recent days. To this circumstance is added that in August Lourdes Bernal addressed the delegate of Unelco-Endesa to request a report due to the increase in electricity consumption.

The intention of the First Institution was to verify the electricity production capacity, assessing the power installed in the Punta Grande plant, the power produced by alternative energies, the number of generators and the power and age of each of them, and the forecasts of increased power consumed during peak, flat and off-peak hours. It also requested to know the transformation power of the substations - Las Coloradas, Mácher and San Bartolomé - and the current annual consumption and forecasts of future consumption and planned investments. However, they have not yet obtained a response from the electricity company.

Projects

Another of the measures taken by the highest official of Industry of the Cabildo has been to send a letter to the Minister of the same area in the Government of the Canary Islands, Marisa Tejedor, informing her of the situation and sending her a copy of all the letters that have been sent to date. However, Lourdes Bernal clarified that this information has already been conveyed by telephone to the Minister of Industry of the Autonomous Executive.

In fact, when Lourdes Bernal had the telephone conversation with the Minister of the Canarian Executive, she proposed signing an agreement between all the parties involved "to leave written record that as Unelco has to supply energy because it is the only company, that it should be made clear that the energy cannot fail and must comply with what the island demands", explained Lourdes Bernal, who specified that this agreement was finally not carried out.
