The mayor of Tinajo, Jesús Machín, has challenged the members of the Socialist Party (PSC) of the municipality to a televised debate to be held on Lanzarote Televisión (LTV) to discuss the release of the councilor of Arrecife, Luis Morales. This is the response of the mayor to the letter sent to the media by the PSC.

In the press release sent by the socialist group of Tinajo, they point out that they can question any action of the government group without the mayor having to say what their job should be because "this is called freedom of expression".

In addition, they explain that the issues to be discussed in public debate are not only related to the release of the last councilor, but also to those issues that affect the general interests of the municipality.

Finally, regarding what Jesús Machín said about the disaster in management between 1999 and 2000, in the note they recommend that he not forget that with those words he also mentioned the current president of the Cabildo who collaborated with other people in changing many things in the municipality of which they are proud.

The controversy

The first to start this controversy were the socialists by refusing to attend last Tuesday of last week the extraordinary and urgent plenary session that was held to correct the situation of some land that will be used for the construction of a health center and to approve the release of one of the councilors of the government group.

The mayor's response to this first statement was to challenge them to a public debate. A proposal that, on the other hand, the socialists have accepted "contrary to what the mayor did in 2001 who did not accept that challenge to talk about the economic issues of the municipality". Thus, they have insisted to the mayor that it be done in the place, date and time that he deems but always that it takes place in Tinajo.
