The Lanzarote Tax Network approves the tax calendar in Arrecife, Teguise, Haría and Tinajo

The Governing Council of the Lanzarote Tax Network unanimously approved this Thursday the 2017 tax calendar for Arrecife, Teguise, Haría and Tinajo; the municipalities that have so far joined this body created by the Cabildo de Lanzarote. This was established by the Corporation "in order to improve the tax and collection management of the local councils of the island".

The collection date in the voluntary period of the Real Estate Tax (IBI), Vehicle Tax (IVTM) and household waste fees, fords and other cases of occupation of public roads in these municipalities will be extended from July 15 to September 15, according to the Cabildo.

In all these cases, "residents may choose to direct debit their receipts, for which they will have until August 5 and for which they will obtain a 5% discount". They may also "pay them at any of the collaborating banks or by making the payment by card via the Internet at the Virtual Office (which can be accessed via the website www.redtributarialanzarote.es) or at any of the offices set up in the four municipalities", they explained from the Corporation.

Regarding the authorised offices, the Cabildo explained that the one in Arrecife will open soon in the main office of the Island Autonomous Body for Tax Management of Lanzarote (Juan Negrín street, number 101); and the remaining three are located at the headquarters of the respective Town Councils. It has also pointed out that the procedures to carry out the direct debit can be carried out both in any of these offices and through the Virtual Office.

They advise that the data and payment options be verified

In any case, they have reported that for these taxes and fees, if payment in four instalments has been chosen, "the instalments will be charged on the 5th of the month from September to December". The Lanzarote Tax Network advises "residents who already had this option in their respective Town Councils to verify that, after the complex migration and integration of computer data, their data and payment options remain correct".

With regard to the Economic Activities Tax (IAE) and commercial waste fees, the collection date in the voluntary period will be extended in the four municipalities from 5 September to 5 November. "Residents may also choose to direct debit their receipts until 5 August, for which they will also obtain a 5% discount and the direct debit receipts will be charged to their account on 5 November", they pointed out from the Corporation.

On the other hand, they pointed out that "the period of public display of the registers of these taxes and fees ends on 15 September, and any allegations that may be necessary for the correct settlement of the taxes may be submitted" and that "appeals for reconsideration against the receipts may be submitted until 15 October". "Once the deadline has expired, no appeals will be admitted", they added.

Budget of 2 million euros approved

On the other hand, the Governing Council also approved during the extraordinary session held in the Plenary Hall of the Cabildo de Lanzarote the budget of the Island Autonomous Body for Tax Management of Lanzarote, which amounts to a total of 2,048,075 euros. Also, the director of this Body, Pilar Zurita, explained to the members of the Governing Council the operation of the website www.redtributarialanzarote.es, where all the information about it is obtained.

For his part, the Councillor for Finance of the Cabildo de Lanzarote and President of the Governing Council, Luis Arráez, expressed during the session his "apologies to taxpayers for the inconvenience that the implementation of the Tax Network may be causing them in this first year of operation", and asked for their understanding in the face of these "as it is a very laborious and complex process, which requires the verification of thousands of data and in which errors may be made".

In this sense, Luis Arráez asked citizens to pay "attention when checking the data that will be reflected in the receipts" and that in case they detect errors "request to correct them in the different offices of the Tax Network or proceed to correct them directly through the Virtual Office". He also announced the upcoming launch "of a campaign in which complete information will be offered on the operation of the Lanzarote Tax Network".
