The new Canarian Executive continues to take shape. Octavio Caraballo León from Arrecife has been appointed general director of the Cabinet of the Presidency of the Canarian Government. He studied Journalism at the Complutense University of Madrid and has developed specialization courses in digital journalism (University of Valencia), electoral marketing (European University of Madrid), electoral campaigns (Mas Consulting) and community manager (UNED).
Regarding his professional career, Caraballo has worked as a journalist and as head of press offices in five of the seven islands. In the field of political communication, he has served as press chief of the City Council of La Oliva and Arrecife in different terms. He worked for eleven years as a parliamentary advisor and press chief in the General Courts: in the Senate between 2000 and 2007 and in the Congress of Deputies between 2011 and 2015.
He was press chief of the president of the Government of the Canary Islands (2007-2009) and national press chief of the Canarian Coalition (2010-2015). Between 2015 and 2016 he has been cabinet of the current president of the Canarian Executive.
In media
He has also worked as a writer in various media outlets, including the newspaper Marca, La Provincia, Ideapress and La Voz de Lanzarote. In 1995 he created El Correo de Fuerteventura.
He has been editor of GSN (the Spanish version of the American blog Born this way Blog) and has collaborated as a blogger in the Spanish edition of "El Huffington Post" and "El caballo de Nietzsche", from eldiario.es.
