The Island Directorate of the Government Delegation in Lanzarote has called a meeting of the Island Security Board to try to agree on "preventive measures against the burning of containers and similar incidents" on the island, which has skyrocketed in recent months.
The meeting, which will take place this Wednesday at the Municipal Archive of Arrecife, is attended by the seven mayors of Lanzarote, as well as the heads of the Local Police of each Town Hall, the captain chief of the Civil Guard Company of Costa Teguise, the lieutenant chief of the Traffic Detachment of the Civil Guard, the commissioner of the National Police of Arrecife, the chief inspector of Citizen Security of the National Police of Arrecife, the manager of the Security and Emergency Consortium of Lanzarote and the Waste Councilor of the Cabildo.
"This is a serious problem that affects the entire island and needs an urgent solution, so the best way to address it is for all the island's public corporations to go hand in hand and work together and in a coordinated manner to put all the means we have at our disposal in order to eradicate it," said the mayor of Arrecife, Astrid Pérez.
