The Los Islotes Integral Nature Reserve now has a Master Plan

The objective of this new regulation is to guarantee the conservation and protection of the natural resources and ecosystems of this area of Lanzarote. The new Management Plan of the Integral Natural Reserve of Los Islotes, located in the municipality of Teguise, has been definitively approved by the Department of Environment and Territorial Planning of the Government of the Canary Islands.

This Reserve has an area of 165 hectares and represents 0.47 percent of the protected island territory. It contains animal and plant populations classified as threatened or species that require animal protection.

The Management Plan not only contemplates the conservation of the Los Islotes area, but also aims to improve the visual quality of the reserve's landscape, as well as promote and regulate the performance of scientific studies. The investigations carried out in this enclave will not cause any damage to natural resources and their execution must have the authorization of the competent administration.

The Integral Natural Reserve of Los Islotes constitutes a representative and well-preserved sample of the natural Canary Island islet system and contributes significantly to the maintenance of the biodiversity of the Canary Archipelago because it is one of the most important areas for different seabirds and birds of prey. The importance of this area had already been recognized outside our borders and is part of different international environmental protection programs.
