The Haría City Council has expressed its disappointment at "the snub" by the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, this Friday, by not attending the meeting scheduled to "find a solution to the water crisis experienced by the citizens of the municipality." This was announced by the corporation in a press release.
The government group criticizes that, after requesting an urgent meeting with the Water Consortium to resolve the continuous supply cuts in the north, "the president has preferred to attend an inauguration event, instead of addressing the problems of the population of Haría and Lanzarote."
In this line, the government team demands a response from the president of the Island Institution, as well as "to hold the planned meeting as urgently as possible", in order to offer a solution to the inhabitants of Haría. They also emphasize that "any meeting that is going to take place must be in Haría."
From the City Council, it is recalled that several payments in the municipality have been without water for up to four consecutive days and that almost all points in Haría have suffered intermittent cuts in recent weeks, which is affecting the residents, businesses, tourism, and agriculture.
Apart from the planned meeting, the government group requests an extraordinary and urgent meeting of the Island Water Consortium.
