The Ministry of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands, through the General Directorate of Educational Planning, Inclusion and Innovation, has published the call for a line of grants of 800,000 euros for students with specific educational support needs (NEAE) associated with attention deficit disorders, with or without hyperactivity (ADHD), who last year could not benefit from the Ministry's grants because they did not have a recognized degree of disability equal to or greater than 33 percent

Specifically, these grants from the regional Executive are convened with the aim of covering expenses incurred during the 2023/2024 academic year for the pedagogical or language re-education of students suffering from ADHD, regardless of their degree of disability.

In this way, the area led by Poli Suárez seeks to compensate those who were left out of those convened by the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports for not having a recognized disability equal to or greater than the percentage required in its bases.

These grants, compatible with others that pursue the same objective, are aimed at students of Early Childhood Education, Primary Education, Compulsory Secondary Education, Baccalaureate, Intermediate and Higher Level Training Cycles and Basic Level Training Cycles, and, in order to be eligible for them, candidates must meet, among others, the following requirements: have a diagnosis of ADHD issued by an Educational and Psychopedagogical Guidance Team (EOEP) prior to September 2023 and with a maximum of five years of seniority; not have a recognized disability status equal to or greater than 33 percent; have been enrolled in a public educational center of the islands or received the aforementioned pedagogical and language re-education service during the 2023/2024 academic year by a psychopedagogical office, center or specialist professional.

With this measure, the Ministry of Education reaffirms its commitment to equality for all Canarian students who have some type of educational disability, regardless of their situation and needs, while firmly supporting their inclusion within the educational system, ensuring that everyone has the same opportunities to develop their academic and personal potential.
