The Governing Council has approved this Friday the granting of four subsidies totaling 3,151,782 euros to the Cabildo of Lanzarote to execute several road works.

Specifically, these are resources framed within the Strategic Plan of Subsidies of the General Directorate of Infrastructure and that in the case of Lanzarote are destined to promote improvement works on the roads of this island, on roads of general interest, in order to gain in road safety or the creation of bike lanes, as in the landscaping of the environment or in the reduction of noise.

The works that will be subsidized with this item are the following: security measures for adaptation of bike lanes, environmental improvements and street furniture in the urban section of the LZ-1 as it passes through Tahíche (with an allocation of 1,197,299 euros); the works of beautification of the accesses to the César Manrique airport (with 770,000 euros); the work for the adaptation of the containment systems in the LZ-2 between Arrecife and Playa Blanca (974,483 euros) and the improvements of the San Bartolomé link in the LZ-3 (210,000 euros).

Once the subsidy is approved, the funds will be transferred to the Cabildo of Lanzarote so that it can begin the process of contracting the works in the coming weeks.

In total, 26.8 million euros have been budgeted for investment in Lanzarote in 2021, 288% more than this year, money that will be used for drafting projects and to start, at the end of that same year, the first road works that are contracted on this island after eight years without awarding actions on its roads of general interest.

With this item, the Canary Islands Government intends to launch next year the improvement works of the Guatiza-Órzola section of the LZ-1, the duplication of the LZ-40 and the connection between the LZ-2 and the LZ-3.
