The Espacio 21 company has used the first play written by the Frenchman Jean Paul Sartre to give body to its new stage production. "Huis clos" ("No Exit", 1944). This play tells the story of two women, Inés and Estelle, and a man, Garcin, who are prisoners in a small, inescapable space, condemned to remain there for all eternity. They are only observed by a sculpture and an occasional servant. The three are waiting for their turn to go to their appointment with the executioner, but in that time they try to hide their true personality from the others.
This literary text, in which much of Sartre's thought emerges, the French thinker considered one of the bulwarks of philosophical existentialism, is what Espacio 21 will bring to the stage of the Teatro de Tías, on Thursday, March 22, at 9:00 p.m. The price of the performance is 10 euros and tickets are already on sale at the CIC El Almacén and in the Culture Department of the Tías City Council.
The cast of "Huis Clos" includes an excellent cast of actors, with David Mosquera in the role of Garcin, actresses Sara Guerra and Emérita Suárez playing Inés and Estelle respectively; and actor Gonzalo Berzosa is in charge of bringing to life the concierge who gives entrance to the claustrophobic stage to the other three protagonists.
The person in charge of the adaptation has been Claudia Robaina, who also assumes the tasks of production and wardrobe. For his part, Tony Suárez is in charge of the direction of the entire play and the design of the stage space and lighting. The Literary Cabinet of Las Palma de Gran Canarias has collaborated with Espacio 21 in the staging of this play.
