The Contentious-Administrative Court Number 1 of Las Palmas has ruled in favor of San Bartolomé, considering the termination of the public works concession contract with Sport & Ocio, the company awarded the works of the Playa Honda Sports Center, agreed in plenary session on September 23, 2013, to be in accordance with the law.

The City Council recalls that Sport & Ocio was awarded the works of the aforementioned sports center but, after four months, "unilaterally abandoned the construction works." Following the breach by Sport & Ocio, the City Council initiated the appropriate procedure for the termination of the contract and the execution of the guarantee deposited as collateral by the company, for an amount of 172,501.24 euros, a decision that has now been validated by the courts, in a ruling dated November 28.

The City Council points out that "previously another procedure had to be filed against Sport & Ocio due to the concessionaire's refusal to pay the tax on constructions, installations and works and the municipal fee for granting a building permit for the construction of the aforementioned sports center."

The courts ruled in favor of the City Council, so executive actions have been taken against the aforementioned company for the collection of the 77,805.38 euros that it is obliged to pay for the aforementioned taxes and fees.

The mayor of San Bartolomé, María Dolores Corujo, has stated that the "government team firmly maintains its commitment to fight with all the resources at its disposal in favor of the general interest." "Judgments like this prove the City Council right in its commitment to fight to the end for every euro of public money," she concluded.
