The Teguise City Council hopes to expand the Local Police force "in the not too distant future" and with it open an office that provides service 24 hours a day in Costa Teguise. This was stated by Councilor Miguel Ángel Jiménez, after a citizen contacted La Voz to express her dissatisfaction with the Local Police of the tourist town because "complaints can only be filed in the morning."
"It is a situation that we have been studying for some time," said the councilor, who stated that if the Costa Teguise Local Police office only opens in the morning it is because "there is not" "enough staff" to "also attend to an afternoon service." Thus, if you want to file a complaint during these hours, citizens "have to move to La Villa."
"But I understand the importance of Costa Teguise, that is why we put that morning service, and that is why the intention is, once we can increase the staff, to open an office 24 hours a day to provide greater service to citizens not only from Costa Teguise, but also from Tahíche, which is the closest area and the one with the largest population in the municipality," said Miguel Ángel Jiménez
In this regard, the councilor pointed out that, as proposed by the mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, during the election period, the intention is that "in the not too distant future", which he hopes "in less than a year", the Local Police force can be expanded "and part of that staff transferred to Costa Teguise". "I hope that in this legislature, that demand, which I recognize is quite serious, can be remedied," concluded the Police Councilor of Teguise.
