The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the Island Water Council, has begun the channeling and improvement of urban drainage of rainwater between Las Andoriñas and Los Periquitos streets in Nazaret, in the municipality of Teguise.
The work, which began this Tuesday and will last two months, has been awarded to the company Transporte y excavaciones Tiagua SL with a budget of 45,160.60 euros.
This work will channel rainwater that currently runs between the houses located between Las Andoriñas and Los Periquitos streets, and that superficially crosses Los Chorlitos street, flowing into an undeveloped plot where water and drag accumulations occur.

The vice president of the Island Water Council, Andrés Stinga, explained that "for this, sand trap manholes will be built to collect clean water that will be conducted under the road of Calle Los Chorlitos until it flows into an open reinforced concrete channel 50 meters long and 1.50 meters high, thus avoiding the free circulation of water through the urban area."
