About fifty agents of the Civil Guard have moved to Lanzarote to guarantee the safety of the President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, and also of the former socialist President José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, who usually spends the summer in the Famara bungalows, during their stay on the island.
As La Voz has learned, to guarantee the safety of both, the General Directorate of the Civil Guard has mobilized about 50 agents, mostly basic scale agents and some C1 group corporals, to the island of volcanoes. In addition, a captain and a sergeant of the Benemérita.
The Spanish leader moved to Lanzarote last Saturday, August 2nd, and is expected to be staying at La Mareta, a property owned by National Heritage, which has hosted others before him in his position, until August 23rd.
For the moment, it has not been made public whether the President of the Generallitat of Calatunya, Salvador Illa, former Minister of Health (2020-2021), and the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande Marlaska, have finally arrived on the island together with President Sánchez or will do so in the coming weeks.
