The Canarian Nationalist Center (CCN) has requested that Unelco be exemplarily sanctioned for its disastrous performance in Tenerife this week, in which it has not restored electricity in the Santa Cruz-La Laguna metropolitan area after the passage of tropical storm Delta in the archipelago, despite weather forecasts and alerts.

The CCN also congratulates the mayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Miguel Zerolo, for his courage in publicly denouncing Unelco's null management during the storm and the following days.

Likewise, the president of the CCN of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, David Sáenz, encourages Zerolo to ask the president of the Government of the Canary Islands, Adán Martín, from his same party (ATI-CC), to do the same and severely sanction the electricity company, which has failed miserably for the second time in a short time on the island of Tenerife, after the cold snap suffered in March and which also left the metropolitan area of the island in the dark.

David Sáenz has shown his total amazement at the obvious lack of coordination in ATI-CC when assessing the damage caused by Unelco's poor performance. While Adán Martín has excused and consented to the delay in restoring the power lines in the metropolitan area of Tenerife, Miguel Zerolo has lashed out against Unelco, whom he accuses of not having invested enough in infrastructure to avoid these days of power outage, which the mayor of Santa Cruz considered unjustifiable.

The CCN recalls that the Government of the Canary Islands is competent in the electricity sector and therefore can and should severely sanction Unelco for its disastrous performance this week.

Likewise, the Minister of Industry of the Government of the Canary Islands, Marisa Tejedor, from the same party as Adán Martín and Miguel Zerolo, has the power to act against the electricity company because the residents cannot be without electricity for three days due to the demolition of some towers without having the necessary spare parts in the islands since these are in the Peninsula.
