The Port of Arrecife has increased its total traffic between January and May by 8.22% to 814,291 tons, as reported by the Port Authority of Las Palmas.
For its part, the growth recorded for the Port of Las Palmas is 14.09%, with 12.8 million tons; in Puerto del Rosario it increased by 16.76% and 689,599 tons; the Port of Arinaga increases by +8.04%, with 110,938 tons; the Port of Salinetas decreases its total traffic by -28.26% with 217,371 tons.
All of them add up to 14.6 million tons, which represents an increase of +12.83% compared to last year, that is, 1,664,962 tons more than in 2024.
The president of the state public entity, Beatriz Calzada, explained that the increase in total traffic is due 75% to foreign merchandise, while cabotage and inter-island transport represent 33%. Likewise, transit operations continue their upward trend with +23.38%, just as the number of TEUs increases by +4.66%.
Likewise, she has reported that the increase in tons of merchandise is due to the increase of +35.86% of liquid bulk compared to the accumulated up to May in 2024, mainly derived from the growth of merchandise traffic corresponding to the groups of nature "Chemicals" and "Energy".
