The CACT tender the project to reorganize the uses of the Casa de los Volcanes

The Art, Culture and Tourism Centers of the Cabildo of Lanzarote have started the procedure to tender the project of Works of Reorganization of uses of the Casa de los Volcanes, in Jameos del Agua. With a budget of around two and a half million euros, specifically, 2,471,243.52 euros, "the execution of this project is one of the most important and ambitious interventions of the Centers during this legislature," says the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Pedro San Ginés.

Designed by GPY Arquitectos, the project to reorganize the uses of the Casa de los Volcanes intervenes and recovers unfinished and, therefore, never used infrastructures on the upper floor of Jameos del Agua to house a better, more modern and versatile Casa de los Volcanes. The volcanological dissemination center will leave its current location, which will be recovered for the use for which it was originally conceived by César Manrique and will be transformed into a restaurant with the capacity to meet the needs of both the thousands of visitors to Jameos del Agua and the events that take place in the Auditorium.

"In addition, the project offers a solution to a structural problem of Jameos del Agua such as improving accessibility to the upper area by contemplating the installation of an elevator that will give access to the four existing levels in the center," they point out from the Centers.

The deadline for submitting offers ends at 2:00 p.m. on December 15. The successful company will have an execution period of 9 months from the start of the works.

The project of Works of Reorganization of uses of the Casa de los Volcanes of the Jameos del Agua center is the result of a commission to GPY Arquitectos from the commission to monitor the state of conservation of the centers, promoted by the Entity itself and with representation from the César Manrique Foundation and the technical services of the Cabildo of Lanzarote. The financing of the project will be charged to funds from the Government of the Canary Islands through the Cabildo of Lanzarote. It should be remembered that around 75% of the global budget, 1,850,000 euros, comes from the agreement signed just one year ago between the First Island Institution and the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands for the execution of the project.
