The Governing Council of the Cabildo has approved this Monday the beginning of the tender process for the service for the management of the care centers for the elderly with Alzheimer's and other similar dementias in Lanzarote and La Graciosa with a maximum amount of 4,237,041.41 euros and a period of two years, with the possibility of establishing an extension of another three.

The contract includes the provision of accommodation, food, personal care and family support services, "in addition to those deemed appropriate to provide the best care to a total of 79 users of the Cabildo de Lanzarote Centers", they point out from the Corporation, which recalls that there are 24 in the Dr. Domingo de Guzmán Residence, 50 in the Las Cabreras Day Center and 5 in the La Graciosa Day Center.

The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, has celebrated the launch of an initiative “that reinforces our commitment to the most vulnerable groups in society and guarantees the creation of a safe and structuring environment, a space for listening and exchanging experiences that contributes to the mental and physical well-being of those who have given so much for us and for this island.”

Corujo also highlights the importance of this tender “for the creation and revitalization of employment”, especially in the field of “care and attention for people.”

In this line, the Councilor for Social Welfare of the First Island Institution, Isabel Martín Tenorio, emphasizes that “the service assumes the responsibility of personal and health care for our elders and, at the same time, provides guidelines for action to facilitate their accompaniment in the family nucleus." In addition, she affirms that this step by the Cabildo "evidences the defense of the rights established in the Dependency Law.”
