The Cabildo of Lanzarote, chaired by Oswaldo Betancort, continues to collaborate to execute the agreement with Red Eléctrica de España (REE) for the undergrounding of the electrical grid of the 132KW Playa Blanca-Tías line, and that it also be extended to the municipalities that need it.

"Since 2022, the technicians of this Corporation have sent to the Yaiza City Council that they must make available the land agreed upon to carry out the undergrounding of the electrical grid," says the president, who also emphasizes that the Cabildo received the draft agreement in May of this year 2023.

Regarding this same project, Betancort also states that in the month of August the draft agreement with economic content was sent, in which it was specified that the Cabildo of Lanzarote should contribute the amount of 4,627,681 euros for four euros, reaching a total sum of 18,511,444 euros.

"The Corporation of the previous mandate did not stipulate any economic file in the Treasury area of the Cabildo of Lanzarote for this purpose," says the president.

Betancort has claimed this Friday, in the ordinary plenary session held, that it is necessary to expand the areas for the undergrounding of the electrical grid. "The municipalities of Tías and Teguise have also requested the undergrounding of the electrical grid, and it is our obligation to promote it in order to recover the island image that citizens deserve, eliminating the barriers that affect the landscape beauty."
