The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, has held a meeting with commanders of the General Corps of the Canary Police in which she conveyed her "concern" about the rate of infections in Lanzarote and has requested the collaboration of this security body "to reinforce the device designed to stop the chain of transmission of the coronavirus on the island, mainly in Arrecife."
The president, who was accompanied by the Minister of Security and Emergencies of the First Island Institution, Francisco Javier Aparicio, requested the presence of agents of the Autonomous Police on the public roads of the island's capital, "especially in the areas called hot", to support the Municipal Police, the National Police and the Civil Guard in the tasks of surveillance and supervision of compliance with the health measures established before Covid-19. Also, in the control of access to the covid-auto post installed near the Fairgrounds.
Similarly, Corujo and Aparicio requested the cooperation of the autonomous agents with the State Security Forces and Corps in the mass screenings that are being carried out in the capital of the island, and in the accesses to the educational centers of Arrecife.
After the meeting, the president thanked "the willingness and involvement shown by the representatives of the Autonomous Police", who will move a total of five agents to the island, and recalled that "we are defeating covid thanks to personal responsibility and the effort of the people." "For that effort to take effect, it is necessary to reinforce the surveillance and sanction of inappropriate behaviors," he added.
