The Minister of Transport of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Miguel Ángel Jiménez, held a working meeting with the Transport councilors of the different town councils of the island on Thursday morning to present the draft Regulations for Organization and Operation of TL.Net, the island tool that will improve the management, coordination and quality of the taxi service in Lanzarote.
The objective of this meeting was to share the base document that will govern the operation of the TaxiLanzarote.net platform, and to invite the town councils to submit allegations that enrich the text before its final approval. The representatives of the municipalities of Teguise, Tías, Arrecife and Yaiza attended the meeting, while the councilors of San Bartolomé and Tinajo excused their absence.
During the meeting, different contributions were debated and the willingness of the town councils was appreciated so that the Cabildo could previously meet with the taxi cooperatives of all the municipalities, in an exercise of institutional coordination that, according to the councilor, "supports the shared will to continue advancing in effective solutions for an essential sector in the mobility of our island."
A tool at the service of the island's taxi
The president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, wanted to recognize the role of the sector and "reaffirm the commitment" of the island's Government to its strengthening. "The taxi sector is not going through a good time at the regional level, and as public institutions we have the responsibility to support a group that is key to the mobility of residents and also represents the first image received by those who visit Lanzarote," he said.
For his part, the island councilor, Miguel Ángel Jiménez, stressed that "with TL.Net we seek to provide the sector with a modern, efficient and fair tool that allows us to improve the service, guarantee decent conditions for professionals and respond to the demands of citizens."
"We present this draft so that the town councils can allege and contribute their vision. This tool is good for the Lanzarote taxi and we are going to continue working on it firmly," added Jiménez.
Next steps
The presented draft will now be analyzed by the different town councils, which may formulate their allegations within the framework of the participatory process promoted by the Cabildo. Once collected and valued, the document will be submitted for approval in the Plenary of the Island Corporation and will be subsequently published for public display.
TaxiLanzarote.Net constitutes an island solution to modernize the service, avoid unfair competition, optimize the allocation of services, facilitate electronic payment and ensure greater equity among professionals, all in coordination with local administrations and the sector itself.
