The Cabildo of Lanzarote presented this Wednesday during the inauguration of the 'Expo Ironman Lanzarote 2018', which will remain open until this Saturday, May 26, on the Avenida de las Playas of Puerto del Carmen, the App 'Rutas Alt', a free application for mobile devices that will allow knowing the traffic closures and re-openings of the roads where the cycling segment of the Ironman Lanzarote will circulate, to be held on the aforementioned date.
This App, which can be downloaded on the website lanzarotedeportes.com of the Insular Sports Service, or through the link goo.gl/X4iUzW, "will allow to know from now on in real time and in a dynamic and simple way which roads are closed and the alternative routes in sports events and other events organized by the Cabildo", said the island councilor of Sports, Patricia Pérez, who on the other hand highlighted "the great acceptance that this Expo Ironman had last year, when it was moved for the first time to Puerto del Carmen, which has caused that this year we have extended it one more day and increased the number of exhibitors".
In this sense, the CEO of the Society for the Promotion of Foreign Affairs of Lanzarote (Turismo Lanzarote-SPEL), Héctor Fernández, considered "a success" the transfer of the fair "to this wonderful space because it reinforces the tourist value of the Ironman itself by allowing a much more direct contact of the tourist with all the elements of this sporting event", in addition to allowing them through the European Sports Destination stand installed by Turismo Lanzarote "to know other sporting events that are organized through this distinctive brand, which is a promotional and tourist element for the island of great value", he added.
For his part, the mayor of Tías, José Francisco Hernández, highlighted the relevance that it has meant for Puerto del Carmen and Lanzarote "to be able to host one of the most important sporting events internationally", so he expressed the commitment of the City Council of Tías to continue supporting the celebration of this event and thanked the Cabildo of Lanzarote and Club La Santa for the effort made in the organization of it.
The 'Expo Ironman Lanzarote 2018', located between Tanausú and Folías streets, has about fifteen stands where as many commercial houses sponsoring the event promote and sell their products. The opening ceremony was also attended by the councilors of Tourism and Sports of the City Council of Tías, Amado Vizcaíno and Francisco Javier Aparicio, as well as the director of the event, Kenneth Gasque.
