The Cabildo of Lanzarote will renew the lighting conditioning of La Asomada

With the installation of 249 light points and the objective of "providing the facilities with new elements and more advanced current technology"

The Cabildo of Lanzarote awards the refurbishment of the lighting in La Asomada, which will have "an investment of 1.2 million euros" to "promote actions in the field of renewable energies and energy efficiency", reports the Island Government. Through the "installation of 249 light points, this project will allow to reach adequate lighting levels for the different types of roads".

“The Cabildo of Lanzarote has initiated actions to reduce the dependence on fossil fuels in favor of low consumption luminaires”, assures the president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, and adds that “the planned intervention in the municipality of Tías specifically complies with the objectives of the Integrated National Energy and Climate Plan”.

For his part, the Councilor for Energy of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Miguel Ángel Jiménez, points out that “the action in Tías is part of a series of actions that we carry out from the Energy Area, aimed at achieving the maximum energy efficiency of the lighting as well as the reduction of the problem of light pollution that these facilities produce in several towns on the island”.

The project 'Improvement of energy efficiency and Renovation of public lighting in the population center of La Asomada' is financed by the Canary Islands Development Funds (FDCAN), managed by the Public Works area and will be carried out in the "maximum period of six months", with an item of 1,225,599.80 euros, plus IGIC.

Medina assures that the objective of this work is to “renew the public lighting installations, providing them with new elements, with more advanced current technology and greater possibilities of energy saving, in addition to providing a pleasant night visual environment to the city life through the necessary conditions of visibility and safety of vehicle drivers and pedestrians”.
