The Employment area of the Cabildo of Lanzarote has launched a program to promote and support green and digital entrepreneurship, through which five people have been hired to advise entrepreneurs on the transformation of their businesses, in addition to carrying out support and accompaniment actions for companies and people who are interested in starting a business activity.

As explained by the area's councillor, Jorge Peñas, during the presentation of this initiative, the objective is to offer support to a total of 93 entrepreneurial initiatives. "We want to promote entrepreneurship and retain talent on our island in this way," said the Employment councillor.

The "Lanzarote, promotion and support for entrepreneurial initiatives" program has an investment of 465,000 euros and will run until May 24 of next year 2023, all financed with funds from the European Union's Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (Next Generation).

"In addition to advice, training in digital and green skills will be given to those entrepreneurs who are interested, and work will be done on finding emerging markets, improving and diversifying products, and transforming digital and improving and automating processes," he added.

Specifically, for the development of the same, a person has been hired as project coordinator, two local development agents, an administrative assistant and a community manager. "They will be responsible for highlighting the importance of sustainability and social responsibility of businesses, as well as the digitization of the same," said Peñas, who explained that advice will be given to both entrepreneurial initiatives already started for their green or digital transformation and to newly created companies.

Regarding digital initiatives, the aim will be to promote the vision of the advantages of transforming the company's production model by adapting it to robotics or analytics, among others. "In addition to acquiring skills on digital entrepreneurship and how to improve and diversify the offer of their products, entrepreneurs will also be able to acquire notions about market niches related to intelligent tourism, digital marketing, digital companies and electronic commerce," Peñas detailed.

As for green initiatives, the objective will be to inform, guide and advise users or potential entrepreneurs on opportunities in the field of green economy. "In this case, they will be able to acquire skills on the new regulations that are more respectful with the environment, on sustainability and on control and prevention of pollution, in addition to acquiring notions on market niches related to the evaluation of environmental impacts, the circular economy and renewable energies", said the Employment Councilor of the Cabildo.
