The Road Safety Education Service of the Cabildo of Lanzarote has launched a new edition of the healthy workshops for children and adolescents "Actívate Biciandando", a program that is held every summer as a reinforcement of the training actions that throughout the school year are taught in the educational centers of Early Childhood, Primary and Secondary Education on the island.
The programming will take place during the month of July and, as explained by the Councilor for Youth and Road Safety Education, Myriam Barros, will be focused on "raising awareness and promoting the use of bicycles as an alternative and preferred means of transport, as well as promoting walking and knowing the situation of mobility in the city, among other issues, in a playful way."
"This initiative promotes the participatory improvement of public spaces, at the neighborhood level, as an effective way to raise the quality of life, build community and promote open public spaces as healthy and friendly spaces," adds Barros.
The workshops are aimed at boys and girls between 6 and 12 years old and will be held in two shifts, two weeks long and from Monday to Friday, from 10 am to 12.30 pm. The first of the shifts began this Monday, July 4 and will run until the 15th, and the other will take place from the 18th to the 29th of this month.
The activities are free and are being developed outdoors, in the facilities of the Road Safety Education Service (SEV) of the Cabildo of Lanzarote located in Yágabo street in Arrecife, upon registration through the email [email protected] or by calling the phone number 928 810 509.
