In the plenary session held this Friday, the Cabildo de Lanzarote has approved the initial modification of the credit file through supplement number 2024-0018, which will almost double the item allocated to subsidies for renewable energy and energy efficiency.

This measure, promoted by the Corporation chaired by Oswaldo Betancort, raises the budget allocated for this purpose from 500,000 euros to 900,000 euros, which reinforces the Institution's commitment to sustainability and the fight against climate change.

Miguel Ángel Jiménez, Councilor for Industry of the Cabildo, stated that "this decision marks an important step, making it easier for more citizens and companies to access aid that promotes the use of clean energy." He also stressed that this measure not only reinforces the island's environmental policies, but also promotes economic development and job creation in green sectors.

Oswaldo Betancort added that "this extension of subsidies is just one of the many actions we are carrying out to make Lanzarote and La Graciosa a benchmark in sustainability. We will continue to bet on clean energy to ensure a greener future for all our citizens."

A commitment from this government

The growing demand for renewable energy projects has made it necessary to adjust the resources available to continue supporting applicants. In addition, this modification of the credit will allow for greater financing capacity for new initiatives and adds to other key projects for the Institution such as the installation of the San Bartolomé Wind Farm, currently under construction.

The approval of this modification also entails the updating of the Annex of Subsidies and the Strategic Plan of Subsidies of the Cabildo, which will facilitate the adaptation of policies to the new energy challenges of the island.

The file has been approved with the support of the majority of the members of the plenary, consolidating the commitment of the Island Institution to the promotion of renewable energy and energy efficiency in Lanzarote.
