The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the Department of Public Works, has launched a plan to rehabilitate and paint all the bridges on the island with the aim of improving their state of conservation and reinforcing their integration into the urban and island landscape. This action will guarantee the structural safety of these infrastructures, in addition to improving their aesthetics and resistance to weather conditions and continued use.
The works have begun on the Playa Honda bridge, where the Councilor for Public Works, Jacobo Medina, went to supervise the start of the work. During the visit, Medina highlighted the importance of this intervention, stressing that this is the first step of a comprehensive improvement plan that will be developed throughout the island. "With this action we want to guarantee not only the conservation of these infrastructures, but also their integration into the environment, offering a renewed image and in better conditions for their use. The improvement of the bridges is part of the Cabildo's commitment to the continuous maintenance of our road network and public spaces," he said.
The project includes the thorough cleaning of the surfaces, the repair of minor structural damage and the application of paint with highly resistant materials, ensuring their durability against constant exposure to the climate and daily traffic. These tasks will allow the renovation of those bridges that present greater deterioration due to their age or lack of maintenance in previous years.
The councilor explained that "these works will be carried out in a staggered manner, prioritizing the infrastructures that require more urgent intervention, in order to minimize inconvenience to citizens and ensure proper planning in each area." He also stressed that "the action not only responds to a need for beautification, but also for road and pedestrian safety."
With this initiative, the Cabildo of Lanzarote "reaffirms its commitment to the maintenance and improvement of public infrastructures, guaranteeing a more cared for, safe and pleasant island for residents and visitors." The actions will continue in the coming months, with intervention at different strategic points on the island to ensure that all bridges receive the necessary maintenance and present an image in accordance with the environment.
"We continue working to make Lanzarote look better and for its infrastructures to be in optimal condition. This plan is another example of our commitment to the conservation of public space and to the safety of those who travel daily through these structures," Medina concluded.
