The Cabildo of Lanzarote announces the reopening of La Porra street, in the island's capital, for the Christmas campaign.

“We are aware of the inconvenience it could cause, in the middle of the Christmas season, for the road to be closed, so we have decided to take a short break to improve mobility in the center of the capital,” explains the vice president and head of Works, Jacobo Medina.

The councilor, who recently visited the state of the works with the mayor and head of Works of the Arrecife City Council, Yonathan de León, explains that the road will be reopened between the intersections with Coronels Bens and José Betancort streets.

The head of capital works, Yonathan de León, appreciates “the understanding of the residents for the inconvenience caused,” and assures that when they are finished “they will be a boost for the revitalization and beautification of the capital.”

“Once the Christmas season is over, we will resume work on the street to speed up the transformation process of the capital's center,” says Medina, who recalls that the paving of that street and Periodista Viera and José Betancort will be recovered.

The Cabildo of Lanzarote allocates a total of 558,205.74 euros for this work, financed through the EUROPEAN REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT FUND “A way of doing Europe” WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE SUSTAINABLE URBAN DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY “CONURBAN AZUL” of the Sustainable Growth Operational Program 2014-2020.
