The Island Government Council has accepted the start of the procedure for approving the regulatory bases for subsidies for the conservation of island historical heritage, reports the Cabildo.

The decision was adopted considering that "there are many buildings with values that justify their consideration as integral to the cultural heritage that need interventions of various kinds," they acknowledge. These interventions are "inaccessible" for their owners without the support of public administrations, which must collaborate "to prevent" the loss of values that constitute a common heritage, regardless of their private ownership, they argue.

To meet this obligation to collaborate with the maintenance of cultural heritage, the Cabildo has created a line of subsidies, endowed with "the unprecedented amount of two million euros," destined for the "maintenance, protection, conservation, restoration, consolidation, rehabilitation, reconstruction and recovery of real estate that is part of the island's cultural heritage," they affirm.

It should be noted that "this prior consultation procedure is necessary because the island government has opted for the bases to be generic and have a regulatory nature and indefinite validity, to speed up subsequent calls and give continuity over time to this line of aid," they confirm.

As a preliminary step to the call for these grants, "the approval of the bases that will regulate their concession must proceed", after public display and consultation in which interested persons may participate by accessing the documentation on the Cabildo's website (www.cabildodelanzarote.com), conclude from the Cabildo.
