The Teguise City Council, through the cultural program of the Casa-Museo del Timple, organizes a new edition of the music festival Bio Ritmos, which will take place this Friday, June 13, at 9:00 p.m., in the amphitheater of the Plaza de Las Cucharas. This year the meeting will feature artists such as Milladoiro, Makasi and Contraventura.

The mayor, Olivia Duque, invites citizens to enjoy this event, with free admission, which has the main objective of promoting culture from respect for identity and openness to the world. "Costa Teguise hosts an initiative, conceived within the framework of the Biosphere Reserve, which is committed to a model of cultural encounter where traditional music becomes a vehicle for dialogue between territories," she points out.

For his part, the Councilor for Culture, Andoni Machín, emphasizes that, as a novelty in this edition, the interludes between performances will be enlivened by the contagious energy of the Cumbacheros troupe, "a local formation of the municipality that will bring rhythm, dynamism and connection with the public during the scene changes." "This is a meeting where the natural environment and sound roots share a great link," he says.

The Festival, supervised by the Department of Culture of the Teguise City Council, is sponsored and collaborated by the Tourism Area of the city council itself, as well as the Department of Culture of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, SPEL, Cicar and Binter.

Protagonists of Bio Ritmos 2025

In this edition, the poster is headed by Milladoiro, one of the most prestigious formations of Celtic music in Europe. With more than four decades of experience, this Galician group has managed to combine fidelity to the musical traditions of Galicia with an unusual capacity for innovation and instrumental fusion.

From the Canary Islands, Makasi, the project led by Marta Bolaños, proposes a musical journey through Macaronesia exploring the cultural connections between the Canary Islands, Cape Verde, Madeira or Azores and fusing them with elements of African music. Marta Bolaños, with a career that includes collaborations with Mestisay, José Antonio Ramos or Andrés Molina, is consolidating herself as one of the most versatile and creative voices on the current scene.

Completing the proposal is Contraventura, a project by the musician from Majorera David Rodríguez El Majorero, who revisits the ancestral sounds of the timple and the Majorera contra from a contemporary perspective. His proposal combines his own compositions and adaptations that seek to excite and renew the sound tradition of the archipelago.
