The asphalting and adaptation works on the "El Polvorín" road in Güime have been completed.

The Cabildo of Lanzarote has already concluded the asphalting and adaptation of signage and safety on the Güime road, also known as the 'El Polvorín' road, specifically in the section that goes from the access to the Clean Point to the intersection with La Pendiente street, in Guacimeta street and the La Costa road in this town.

The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Pedro San Ginés, accompanied by the Councilor for Public Works of the Institution, Saray Rodríguez, visited the road together with the Councilor for roads and works of the San Bartolomé City Council, Alexis Tejera, and other councilors of this local consistory, to check its condition after the completion of the works that began in December.

The president of the first Island Corporation explained that "after nearly 30 years since the last time this section of municipal ownership was asphalted, the Cabildo has once again responded to an old demand from the population and the San Bartolomé City Council, through the investment and municipal cooperation plans that we are executing in all the municipalities".

Likewise, Pedro San Ginés highlighted not only the substantial change of the road with the asphalting and the horizontal and vertical signage installed on it, but also the "270 meters of the new safety and containment system for vehicles and motorcyclists implemented in the new guardrails that will improve the safety primarily of motorcyclists, cyclists and users more vulnerable to suffering an eventual accident".

Saray Rodríguez announces new investments in roads

The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the area of Public Works, affirms that it is eliminating the sections of greatest danger on the roads, "also safeguarding the safety of motorcyclists with the replacement of the old guardrails with these new ones that include a specific containment system for motorcycles, thus attending to another of the important demands of this other group".

For her part, the Councilor for Public Works, Saray Rodríguez, specified that the works, financed entirely with funds from the Cabildo, were awarded for an amount of 481,353 euros to the company Lanzagrava, S.L. "Throughout this coming year, the Cabildo of Lanzarote plans to develop important actions and investments in the area of conservation and maintenance of roads through an ambitious plan that we will undertake in the road network of both island and municipal ownership, as has been executed in this one of Güime in the municipality of San Bartolomé".

The Councilor for Roads and Works of this municipality, Alexis Tejera, thanked "the collaboration and financing received from the Cabildo" and the company awarded the works for "the speed of the works". He also explained that "the City Council plans to allocate a total of close to 5 million euros of its own funds from the Consistory for a Re-asphalting Plan with works to be carried out in all the towns of the municipality".
