The Lanzarote artist Tayó, together with Lana Corujo and David Machado, curators of the exhibition "Playing between the lines", gathered this Tuesday in El Almacén more than twenty people interested in knowing and delving into the intricacies, the foundations and the phases through which this exhibition project has passed, promoted by the Culture Area of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, which not only aspires to publicize the work of this creator from Uga, but also "to value the artistic and intellectual significance of his work".

"During the course of this conversation, the attending public was able to approach and understand Tayó's artistic narrative in which tensions and knots accumulate that swim between strata or layers from where we talk about the landscape, anthropology, nature and the identity of the men and women who inhabit the island and who are present in his plastic pieces", says the Councilor for Culture of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Alberto Aguiar, who attended the event together with the Councilor for Open Government of the institution, Jorge Peñas.

For almost two hours, Tayó, Lana Corujo and David Machado discussed, in an entertaining, close and illustrative way, the several years of conversations and meetings held between them until this project has materialized. They took the opportunity to comment on how the methodology of this exhibition work arose and developed, which focuses on the attention and interpretation of the emotions, sensations, thoughts and perceptions that surround Tayó's experiential reality, as well as on the form acquired by the artistic and intellectual discourse of this artist throughout his career.

Tayó stressed the importance in his work of cultural references such as Doña Dorotea, Agustín Espinosa, Pancho Lasso or César Manrique, as well as concepts such as the vestigial context, anthropological spaces or border slippage to understand his work.

Lana Corujo and David Machado emphasized, on the one hand, the need to articulate artistic projects of this type on the island that allow to structure and reactivate intergenerational cultural relations and, on the other hand, thanked the Cabildo of Lanzarote "for the exceptional opportunity to develop this exhibition and work with an artist as generous and dedicated as Tayó", who has not hesitated to show his work, understood as an emotional archive that speaks and dialogues with the island in such a significant, poetic and committed way.
