The Arrecife Municipal Sports Palace, which was visited today, Thursday, January 18, by the mayor of the municipality, María Isabel Deniz de León, will have a capacity of 2,500 seated people and almost 4,000 including the stalls and will be used for all kinds of cultural and sporting events, as it has a deployable stage that will allow it to host larger events. A Sports Palace that will be able to host cultural activities of all kinds, including plays and concerts.
According to the mayor, the facilities "comply with all regulations regarding accessibility for the disabled", and both the bathrooms, the cafeteria and the elevators have been designed for the use of users with limited mobility.
Also, "we are advancing the specifications that will go to the next plenary session for the exploitation of these two facilities that will be released jointly and we hope that they will be operating around the months of March and April."
It initially had a budget of 8 and a half million euros, although the mayor has stated that "complementary actions" such as the "exterior conditioning", which includes landscaping and parking, have increased the budget to more than 9 million euros, which they intend to propose in plenary so that the Cabildo bears 50% of the total".
In addition, she has stated that with the sports complex of the Port of Arrecife, where the swimming pool is located, the municipality of Arrecife would be at "a level quite close to what is the average of the equipment in the Canary Islands."
The opening of these new sports facilities will be a resource for the entire island because "everything that is done in Arrecife has an insular character because it is the capital of the island", confirmed the mayoress.
