The government group of the Arrecife City Council has decided to go to the Prosecutor's Office after detecting anomalies in invoices for electricity work. The Governing Board discovered irregularities in a total of [14 receipts for a value amounting to 350,000 euros.->29711] These facts have been reported by the socialists to the Prosecutor's Office this week, as confirmed this Thursday by the current Councilor for Finance, Víctor Betancort. According to technical reports, this work was not carried out and yet some 240,00 euros of the 350,000 invoiced have already been collected.
The discovery by the PSOE of these anomalies occurred after the socialists broke with the PIL as a result of Operation "Unión". At that time, it was detected that the invoices were issued by an individual and a company linked to this person. Specifically, the 14 receipts were invoiced by José Daniel Hernández Arráez and by the company Proyectos y Servicios Lanzarote (Proselan), despite the fact that it has now been discovered that he did not provide his services, according to the aforementioned reports, which ACN Press cites.
The high economic value of the invoices, which amounts to 350,000 euros, is what motivated the PSOE to take this matter to the Prosecutor's Office. Thus, a large part of these receipts have already been collected, 240,000 euros, although there are still some payments to be made. "We have taken the initiative not to pay any more," Betancort said.
In addition, the Finance Councilor of the Arrecife City Council assured that the PSOE will try to have the money from the "badly paid" invoices returned to them. "We have also initiated the procedures to recover some of these receipts", he explained.
Invoices that were not made
Likewise, not only were the 14 invoices not detailed, but two technical reports from the City Council, drafted at the request of the current government group, have confirmed that [the electricity work invoiced was not even carried out.

Thus, José Daniel Hernández Arráez invoiced the Arrecife City Council for fourteen electricity jobs at various festivals in the municipality between 2008 and 2009, which, according to the reports, were not provided. What is more, in some cases, the work described was carried out by City Council staff.
Without going through Festivities
One of the problems that the socialists detected is that the work on the electricity invoices did not explain exactly what it consisted of, which is not usual. They only specify that it is "assembly and disassembly work and use of lines, projector poles, accessory panels and maintenance". These tasks were carried out in the various festivals that are held in the neighborhoods of Arrecife, as well as in the Carnivals of the capital city.
Despite the fact that it was the area in charge of organizing the festivals that should have issued these invoices, its current councilor in the Arrecife City Council, Víctor San Ginés assured La Voz that "he knows nothing". "I have no idea about this issue. I don't know how to assimilate it," he said.
