The Arrecife City Council has removed from public roads and proceeded to decontaminate and dismantle a total of 212 vehicles, specifically 4 motorcycles, 10 SUVs, 7 vans and 191 cars. This removal has been carried out since the end of 2021, which is when the contract with the company in charge of this service was formalized.
The mayoress of Arrecife, Astrid Pérez, has declared that "I committed to the removal of vehicles for a matter of road safety and environmental improvement of our city and it is already a reality thanks to the contracting that we did of this service and the good management of the Infractions Area of the Consistory".
For her part, councilor Eli Merino thanks the citizens for their collaboration in providing information on the location of abandoned vehicles on public roads by sending an email to infracciones@arrecife.es with the address and details of the vehicle or by calling the Arrecife city council at 928812750 ext 1210.

According to the traffic ordinance of the Arrecife City Council, for a vehicle to be considered abandoned, it must meet certain requirements that are verified by the local police, such as being parked for a period of more than 30 calendar days in the same place or having damage that makes it impossible to move by its own means or lacking license plates.
Likewise, the owner of the vehicle is informed from the Infractions area of the beginning of the sanctioning file and is given 15 days to remove the vehicle from the public road or deposit or, if he does not do so, it will be treated as urban solid waste being available to the Arrecife City Council.
