The Teguise City Council has presented several projects that may be eligible within the European Recovery Fund and a plan designed to activate employment and the economy, as well as to promote the modernization of society.

The Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan is structured around urgent lever policies, whose funds will be managed by the Government of the Canary Islands, and for which Teguise has requested from the Ministry of Ecological Transition, Fight Against Climate Change and Territorial Planning two projects worth 2,589,193 euros.

The mayor of Teguise explained that "the largest amount affects the adaptation of the facilities of the Tahíche Sports Center, for which an investment of 770,000 euros is required". "Secondly, Teguise requests more than 635,000 euros for new public lighting on the Cocederos avenue of the Costa Teguise promenade, and 482,572 euros for the basic project and execution of the adaptation of the Technical Office”, Betancort pointed out.

On the other hand, and in terms of municipal infrastructures, Teguise will be eligible to receive European financing to adapt the Caleta de Famara Socio-cultural Center and the Nazaret Socio-cultural Center, with a budget for both of approximately 400,000 euros, among other investments related to the supply of new vehicles for different services of the City Council, and sanitation and water network projects, whose financing has been requested by the Consortium and the Cabildo of Lanzarote.

“We hope that the needs of Teguise will be taken into account when mobilizing this exceptional fund destined to face the post-Covid reconstruction process, and that our municipality receives part of what corresponds to us within the state Recovery Plan and that it is truly effective in minimizing unequal growth in the different sectors that could deepen social and territorial gaps, as explained by the Ministry of the Autonomous Government itself”, concluded Betancort.
