The mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, received in his office the head of Public Works of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Jacobo Medina, in a meeting that staged the materialization of the agreement to transfer 1.8 million investment from the highest island institution, funding that comes from the Cabildo's Cooperation Plan with the municipality, including 500,000 euros in subsidies.

The City Council has thus received the committed item to develop works that are already underway in Teguise, in some cases about to be completed, and on the other hand, has monitored the status of projects that are in the process of being drafted or tendered.

In this regard, the City Council of Teguise announced two weeks ago that it is working jointly with the Contracting area of the Cabildo of Lanzarote to materialize the funding received in works in various parts of the municipality of Teguise, an amount to which must be added another 2.7 million obtained via European funds (ERDF) and Canary Island funds (FDCAN), among other subsidies and own municipal investment. A total of 4.5 million that will be allocated to works of various kinds throughout Teguise and the island of La Graciosa.

"We reiterate our gratitude for this Cooperation Plan that, among all the funding received, will contribute to improving sports courts, playgrounds, lighting, paving, etc., in addition to enabling new leisure and cultural centers for our young people and seniors," said the mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort.

"The priority for Teguise will at all times be social assistance to those families who need it most, but we will not stop the good progress of the works that we started in 2019 and those that are yet to come, since they involve moving the economy and giving work to the self-employed and small and medium-sized companies of Lanzarote and La Graciosa in critical moments like the one we are experiencing," added the mayor of Teguise.

For his part, the Councilor for Works of Teguise, Eugenio Robayna, pointed out that they are "in continuous contact with the Works team of the Cabildo so that all the projects of Teguise go ahead as soon as possible, as is the case of a new multipurpose venue for seniors and young people in Tao, a playground in Muñique, a theme park at the Tahiche Tourism School, the new Sociocultural Center of La Graciosa; as well as lighting projects for commercial areas of Costa Teguise, among others that are already underway such as the future Civic Center of Costa Teguise and Las Caletas or the Sports City of Costa Teguise".
