The study promoted by the Ministry has a budget of 120,000 euros and must be prepared by the company GMM Consultores Turísticos within 6 months, at which time Teguise will be ready to present its complementary leisure offer, which, together with the other six City Councils, considers it necessary to include in the Special Territorial Plan.
Manuel Fajardo Feo explained in his speech during the presentation of the beginning of the study, the need to "address the current situation of the complementary offer and its development, Tías and Yaiza have already done so." The Minister of Tourism believes that the conclusions drawn from this study will "enrich the debate created in Lanzarote society about complementary leisure" and maintains that this complementary offer is "also sports and culture, we have a fixation on golf courses and marinas, but it is much more and that is the analysis that the Government of the Canary Islands is going to do."
The Autonomous Ministry of Tourism will award in the coming weeks the elaboration of a study on the needs of tourist centers throughout the island, which will have a preparation period of four months. The intention of the Ministry is to analyze how the development of tourist areas should be approached because they understand that they are already obsolete and must be provided with elements that attract the attention of new tourists, who are increasingly demanding.
