The mayor of Teguise (CC) and the mayoress of San Bartolomé (PSOE), like the mayor of Arrecife, have appointed other municipal officials this Wednesday to provisionally perform the functions of comptroller in each of these three town councils, until the situation of the comptroller of these three councils, Carlos Sáenz, arrested this Tuesday in an operation in which the Police searched the Arrecife and La Oliva (Fuerteventura) Town Councils, is clarified.
From Arrecife it is pointed out that a new official has been appointed "until the facts are clarified". In Teguise, the appointment will last until Monday at 8:00 a.m., pending the judicial proceedings taken with respect to Sáenz, while in San Bartolomé they have appointed an official until Sáenz's situation is clarified. The mayoress of San Bartolomé, Dolores Corujo, points out that the decision has been made to replace the comptroller to guarantee the normal functioning of the institution.
Sáenz had his position in the Arrecife Town Council, after spending ten years in the same position in La Oliva, where he had previously been municipal secretary. In Teguise he has been working as secretary since 2007 and in San Bartolomé since 2001, where he did the work of comptroller by accumulation. He went to Teguise on Tuesdays and Fridays and to San Bartolomé some afternoons a week.
