The workers of the company Caseur, which is in charge of garbage collection and maintenance of Costa Teguise, have joined the strike notices that affect this and other municipalities of the island. Thus, the services that depend on the Union for the Conservation of Costa Teguise (UCCT) will also be affected from December 22, if the strike is not stopped before.
Caseur is the fifth subsidiary of the CAS group that operates in Lanzarote and in which a strike has been announced in recent days. Thus, it joins the strike notices already given by workers of Rinca, Salimpa, Clusa and Camilo Álvarez Sánchez S.A.
"The workers are owed the last salary corresponding to the month of November and if it is not paid before December 22, we will start an indefinite strike", informs Juan Antonio Bernal, delegate of Intersindical Canaria. "Nobody from the company has contacted us, although it is said that they will be paid on the 17th. If so, the strike notice is called off. If not, we will continue", adds Bernal.
Arrecife remains on indefinite strike
Meanwhile, the cleaners of Clusa, responsible for cleaning the eleven schools of Arrecife, have been on indefinite strike since December 9. Although one of the two payrolls owed to the 46 workers has been paid, "until the total is paid, the strike will continue", announced César Reyes, from UGT Lanzarote.
Tías, Teguise and Tinajo, pending
For their part, the workers of Rinca and Salimpa, in Tías, have given until December 17, two days after the deadline for the owners to present allegations or solutions to the seizure of the service adopted in full by the City Council.
As for Teguise and Tinajo, where the workers of the company Camilo Álvarez Sánchez manage the collection of solid waste, the notice of indefinite strike is for December 19. While in La Villa, the City Council has seized the service and announces that it will take charge of the workers for a period of two years, the mayor of Tinajo, Jesús Machín, trusts that "the owners will keep their word and pay what they owe to the three workers who operate in the municipality".
