Somos Lanzarote has denounced, through its spokesperson and councilor in the Arrecife City Council, Borja Rubio, the "abandonment" of the Arrecife Youth Center, "which in recent months has become a focus of uncivil behaviors." Likewise, he affirms that "since the security contract expired, the public space has not been under surveillance."
From the formation, they denounce that "the surroundings have become a space for the development of uncivil and in some cases illegal activities, which not only dirty the facilities but also act as a deterrent to potential users of the space."
According to Somos Lanzarote, for the correct functioning of the space "what happens inside the infrastructure is as important as the fact that it is located in an area suitable for its use and in optimal conditions, generating a pleasant ecosystem for the development of youth activities."
In this sense, Somos Lanzarote will demand, through a motion that they will defend in the plenary session this Wednesday, that "mechanisms be enabled to maintain the integrity of the infrastructure, either through a greater police presence or the closure of accesses from surrounding areas, thus ensuring the maintenance of its prestige as an institution and its usefulness for the youth segment of the city of Arrecife and the island of Lanzarote."
