The SITCA union has denounced, from last month to date, more than 80 companies throughout the Canary Islands, "for coercion and intimidation against workers", so that they do not attend the general strike this Thursday, March 29.
These complaints, according to the union in a press conference, have occurred mainly in the construction, commerce and agriculture sectors. Within the islands, Tenerife has had the highest number of complaints, with more than 40 percent.
SITCA states once again that "it will continue to protect the right of workers to exercise their free, legitimate and constitutional right to strike on March 29", according to the general secretary Antonio Rodríguez.
Therefore, the legal services of SITCA, regardless of having filed complaints against these companies, "are going to file a criminal complaint against those responsible and middle managers who have directly exercised this coercion", added Antonio Rodríguez.
