The president of the Cabildo, Pedro San Ginés, has invited the PIL and the PP to go "not tomorrow, but today" to the Prosecutor's Office if they consider that the process to pay Inalsa's creditors has "irregularities". "They should have gone to the Prosecutor's Office a long time ago if they consider that this process has been dominated by enormous obscurantism. I am not at all concerned about these statements regarding the Prosecutor's Office. Let them go as soon as possible", he stated on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero.

The president has once again questioned the negative report of the Comptroller of the Water Consortium regarding the payment formula to Inalsa's creditors and has stated that "she is not telling the truth". San Ginés believes that this matter has become a "debate about who is telling the truth", whether the Comptroller or the president of the Cabildo. However, he has stated that the debate should be about "where the truth lies", whether in the minutes or in the report. "The minutes are validated by a public secretary and there are multiple witnesses. The minutes tell the truth and she is not telling the truth in her report", he stated.

San Ginés has insisted that the Comptroller was asked during the process and "had nothing to object to". "We all have the right to rectify and make mistakes. These things can happen", stated the president, who also highlighted that the Comptroller even questions whether Inalsa can be in a creditors' meeting, "four years after having entered". "It can give an idea of the sovereign surprise and the absurdity of the report at this point", he criticized. Therefore, the president considers that this negative report is "extemporaneous and late".

This same Wednesday was the deadline to make any objection to the resignation of the Comptroller, something that the Cabildo has not done. "The Public Function usually responds immediately, accepting the resignation", he stated. "For the moment", no file has been opened against the Comptroller, he added.

Convene the mayors on Monday in Assembly

The president will convene an Assembly of the Consortium on Monday to "listen to the opinions of the mayors" of the seven municipalities of the island. "I want the mayors to express themselves on this report from the Comptroller. I would like that. I want to hear the opinion of the mayors. In light of what they consider, I will express what the will is", he indicated.

And if the Comptroller had not ultimately "erred" in her report and "was right", San Ginés has admitted that "it will be difficult to reach agreements with the creditors". If an agreement could not be reached, the "immediate consequence" would be that the creditors "would attack the Consortium and demand the entire debt, without the 9 million euro discount that they are willing to make". "The entities of the Consortium could end up paying between 9 and 15 million euros more, and that's on the low side, because it is likely to be more", he warned.

San Ginés has assured that he has the "peace of mind of a duty fulfilled, transparent from minute one". Furthermore, he has insisted that the process of awarding the Integral Water Cycle to Canal de Isabel II is "irreversible".

On the other hand, the president has assured that he will not make "the mistake of qualifying the actions of other public officials", as did the general secretary of the PSOE in Lanzarote, [María Dolores Corujo, who assured that it was "a mistake" by San Ginés to have spoken in a media outlet about a civil servant.->77383]
