The insular director of the General Administration of the State in Lanzarote, Pedro Viera, is promoting the dissemination of the VEO Plan in collaboration with the city councils of San
Bartolomé and Tías
, within an information campaign aimed at all families on the island to publicize this initiative of the Ministry of Health aimed at improving the visual health of children and adolescents.

Although the promotional actions have been initially developed in the municipalities of San Bartolomé and Tías, the VEO Plan is available to minors from all municipalities of Lanzarote who meet the established requirements.

The initiative includes aid of up to 100 euros per year for the acquisition of prescription glasses or contact lenses for children and adolescents up to 16 years of age with diagnosed refractive errors and who are entitled to public healthcare.

The aid is applied directly at the opticians participating in the program, facilitating access for families without the need for complex procedures. In addition, families can check which opticians are participating in the program on the island of Lanzarote through the official website of the VEO Plan.

Pedro Viera highlighted the importance of bringing this information to all citizens and underlined the commitment of public administrations to guarantee equal opportunities. “We want all families in Lanzarote to know about this resource and to be able to benefit from a measure that contributes to the well-being, learning, and quality of life of our minors,” said the insular director.

Likewise, Viera thanked the collaboration of the city councils of San Bartolomé and Tías in the dissemination efforts and recalled that institutional coordination is fundamental
for public aid to reach effectively those who need it most.

The VEO Plan, promoted by the Ministry of Health, will remain in effect until December 31, 2026 and is part of the measures aimed at reducing economic barriers
to access essential optical products for the child and adolescent population.
