The three owners of the Marina Rubicón marina, Juan Francisco Rosa, Francisco Armas and Rafael Lasso, have returned to testify this Wednesday before the Investigating Court Number 2 of Arrecife in the framework of the "Reyes" case, which investigates an alleged plot for the massive granting of illegal licenses in Playa Blanca. The three promoters of the port are charged with an alleged crime of bribery. In addition, the new judge investigating this case, Ana Manella, recently charged Rosa and Armas with another alleged crime of illicit association.
Both Juan Francisco Rosa and Francisco Armas and Rafael Lasso had been summoned to testify several months ago, but the change of judge that this court suffered delayed the statements. After the summer and after the new magistrate studied the case, she gave a new impetus to the case by issuing a dozen summonses and including the crime of illicit association, which affects Rosa and Armas, as well as the former mayor of Yaiza, José Francisco Reyes, the lawyer Felipe Fernández Camero and his daughter, Juana Fernández de las Heras, among others.
Rosa, Armas and Lasso were already charged with an alleged crime of bribery, related to the mooring of José Francisco Reyes' family yacht. This boat had been in Marina Rubicón for years without paying the corresponding mooring fees.
The Court considers that the money that the Reyes family saved with the mooring of "El Pachi" could have been part of alleged gifts in exchange for the granting of illegal licenses. In addition to the hotels, the case has also been investigating for months the possible illegality of the Marina Rubicón marina.
In addition, the "Reyes" case shares several defendants with the "Unión" case. Thus, both the former mayor of Yaiza, José Francisco Reyes, as well as the lawyer Felipe Fernández Camero and the businessmen Juan Francisco Rosa and Francisco Armas are charged in both cases.
