The Christmas lighting in the town of Playa Blanca is once again under criticism from the councilor of Lanzarote en Pie-Sí Podemos Ramiro Muñoz. The councilor denounces that, "a despite continuing to increase the costs of Christmas decoration of the municipality, the area of Montaña Roja does not have a single festive light or see improved the situation of fixed lighting".
This area, where more than half of the people residing in Playa Blanca live, is once again without the traditional Christmas lighting despite the increase in its cost. "We understand that Montaña Roja is one of the areas of the Partial Plan not received by the City Council of Yaiza, but we also understand that the Consistory can reach agreements between both parties for these specific cases", declares the councilor.
For the island confluence it is incomprehensible that such a superfluous expense as Christmas lighting continues to increase despite the socio-economic crisis suffered by a large part of the island's population and the great shortcomings of the municipality.
Montaña Roja and Avenida Faro de Pechiguera, in the dark
Similarly, the councilor of Lanzarote en Pie-Sí Podemos has wanted to denounce again the lack of lampposts in the area of Montaña Roja and Avenida Faro Pechiguera, where "damaged luminaires are not repaired or replaced those that no longer work and where there are lighting deficiencies in busy pedestrian crossings, putting the safety of pedestrians in serious danger".
For the councilor it is still "a great irresponsibility that the government group has not worked to reach agreements that ensure the safety of the area since from their point of view this was the priority in terms of lighting and is what the city council should have spent the money on".
