The Citizen Participation area of the Cabildo de Lanzarote has collaborated with the General Directorate of Social Policies of the Government of the Canary Islands for the organization of the "Reflection and Analysis Working Seminar on Citizen Participation, Associations and Volunteering."

During the opening ceremony of the seminar, which took place this Thursday, the Councilor for Citizen Participation of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Juan Antonio de la Hoz, was pleased with the celebration of this type of work meetings that "allow strengthening and enriching coordination relationships between Institutions and between technicians from different public administrations."

Similarly, he stressed that "all these meetings, while sharing tools and different lines of work, will allow the Cabildo de Lanzarote to develop in a consensual and coordinated manner the strategy and Action Plan for 2012."

For his part, the Deputy Director of Social Policies and Immigration of the Government of the Canary Islands, Melchor Núñez, stressed "the rationalization of intervention sources, advocating that in times of crisis volunteer associations have increasing financial autonomy, being as sustainable as possible by themselves."

Similarly, de la Hoz explained that "within the objectives and topics addressed in this seminar, the strategic lines and tools that are necessary to enable the implementation of local advice and support offices for associations have been discussed, promoting and expanding the development and conceptualization of citizen participation, associations and volunteering."
