The Yaiza City Council is finalizing this week the installation in Playa Blanca of nine video cameras to reinforce police surveillance in five central points with high pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
The City Council explains that they are installed in places such as Avenida Papagayo and the parking lot of the Papagayo shopping center, among others. In addition, the mayor, Óscar Noda, confirms its installation and operation "in the conglomerates of containers on El Comedero street and the area adjacent to the Port". "This is because we receive many citizen complaints about garbage being dumped outside the containers, and these bad practices damage the image of Playa Blanca and can become a public health problem," he says.
"The cameras technically have good resolution, range and angle of vision and image capture and are equipped with a license plate reader to identify possible offending vehicles. It is a useful tool that helps the work of the Local Police and therefore is intended to improve citizen security," adds the mayor.
The City Council also informs that the visualization of the video surveillance system "will be for the exclusive use of the agents of the Local Police". In the case of criminal acts, the system allows the police forces and judicial authorities to review images, facilitating the location of suspicious people or vehicles.
